WHEN THINGS don't go as planned, don't fret. Try to learn or grow instead. As simple as this may seem, it remains part of life's "struggles" and will probably still have us shaking our heads in disbelief decades from now.

Let's be honest : ordering art is fascinating.

Not that it's an impossible endeavor or a counter-productive approach to ask for a particular painting, song or poetry (heck, I wouldn't be making a living out of it, or trying to, if this was the law of nature)... I just believe that there is some emotional connection, a subtle but powerful subconscious link between the composer, the music and the listener, that goes beyond any criteria. And that's where "ordering art" gets tricky.

Art speaks to us in different ways and every detail counts. From the mood you're in when you go to the museum to the speakers or headphones you're using to listen to that osbcure band you've never heard of, everything matters. Creations can have different effects on different people depending on the time of day, the weather or even the clothes they're wearing.

I will partly repeat myself here: art speaks to us in different ways... but mostly through beauty. We all seek beauty, but we also all have a different definition of what it actually, truly, is. If an individual sees beauty in your art, there's a fat chance he will like it, maybe even love it. And that, in my humble opinion, is why ordering art is so peculiar.

To make a long story short...
... here's another pitch that didn't make the cut. There's no need to wonder why, even if the guys at the agency were pretty puzzled by the client's ultimate decision. It happens, that's all!

The customer wanted something like Aphex Twin's "April 14th". A pretty straightforward pitch that required clever piano-melodic simplicity.

And here's what Ton Son went for.

Enjoy
